Greetings Friends of bigLITTLE.

The holiday season, with its mild weather and merriment, has passed. Snow has since flown and tucked Leelanau Peninsula farms, vineyards, and fields to sleep. The winter temperatures thus far have been moderate and kind to tender grape vine wood. We are optimistic for a great growing season ahead as we are in need of such a vintage. El Nino es muy bueno.

bigLITTLE Wines is excited to announce that we will be planting more vineyard this year. A 5 acre planting of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Gamay Noir will be planted on Stony Point east of Suttons Bay this spring. We hope to have grapes by 2018 and produce wine by 2019 from this new vineyard.

We are SOLD OUT of Treehouse, White Pinot Noir and don’t expect to release more until 2017 as we have not been able to make this wine for a couple of years.  We are running low on Dune Climb and expect to sell out of this wine early this summer.

We eluded to new wines/products in our last newsletter. We are excited for the addition of a rosé to the lineup this spring. We have not chosen a name for the wine yet, but it is a blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Marechal Foch. We also put our Pommeau de Leelanau in barrel the day after Christmas. Pommeau is apple cider (juice) fortified with apple brandy to about 19% and aged in oak. Our Pommeau is being aged in French oak and tastes great a month into the aging process. We don’t expect to release this product until 2017 but there’s no reason not to get pumped about it now.

We have a good number of upcoming events planned that you should be aware of. See below for dates and info. We look forward to you joining us at one or all of these events!

Cheers,
Mike & Pete
